Umaid Safari & Desert Lodge

You can find us right on the Nh 11 Bikaner Jaipur Highway. We are at the 15 Kms Mile Stone near Village- Raisar in the Marudhar area. It’s a bit out of the way from the main city, which is why people like it. We have the lodge here and we organize safaris into the desert. It is mostly sand and scrub out this way. We spend a lot of our time making sure the rooms are clean and the jeeps are running okay. The desert gets very cold at night and very hot during the day, so there is always something to fix or adjust. We aren't a big luxury hotel chain. It’s just a place to stay and see the dunes. We have some camels too, and they need a lot of looking after. The village of Raisar is quiet, and most of our staff come from around there. We eat local food and sit outside around the fire when the sun goes down. Sometimes the wind picks up and blows sand into everything, which is just part of living in the desert. We don't have a lot of bells and whistles. It's just a practical spot for people who want to see the desert up close without too much fuss. It’s a hard life sometimes with the weather, but we enjoy the peace out here on the highway. We just do things the traditional way.
