Thar India Foundation

Shri Dungargarh is a specific kind of place. We are in the C.M. Plaza on the second floor. It’s right opposite the Tehsil office. Being across from a government building means there are always people around. Bikaner can get incredibly hot, and the second floor catches a bit of the breeze if we leave the windows open. Thar India Foundation works out of a couple of rooms here. We have a view of the street below. You can see the tea stalls and the motorbikes parked everywhere. The plaza is a bit older, so the stairs are a little narrow. We don't have an elevator. Most of the time, we are busy with paperwork or talking to people from the surrounding villages. Bikaner has a rhythm that we are part of. We start early and take a long break when the sun is at its peak. The office is simple. We have some metal cupboards for our files. We don't spend money on fancy decorations. The focus is on the work we do for the region. People come up to the second floor to ask for help or just to share information. We know the other shopkeepers in C.M. Plaza. It’s a small community. We like being in the middle of Shri Dungargarh. It makes us feel connected to what’s happening in the town.
