Mahavir Iron Store

Mahavir Iron Store is located on Gajner Road, right along Nh-15. We are very close to the railway crossing, so we hear the trains passing by all day long. The ground actually shakes a little bit every time a heavy freight train goes past. It’s a dusty place because of all the iron and the heavy traffic on the highway. We’ve got a big yard where we keep all the heavier stuff. It’s not a fancy setup at all. We have a small cabin where we sit and handle the accounts. Most of our day is spent outside or in the shed. The sun can be brutal out here on Nh-15, so we drink a lot of water and stay in the shade when we can. We've been here for years and the crossing is a major landmark for anyone coming this way. Sometimes the traffic gets backed up for a long time when the gates are closed, and people come in just to wait. We have a few old benches for that. It’s a very straightforward business. We deal with metal and we deal with people. There are no bells and whistles here. Just hard work and long days. We like it that way. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy. We just keep our focus on the tasks at hand and get things done. That's life for us.
