Tomar Tiles

Tomar Tiles is located right here in Babanpur, just off the Chandpur Dhanaura Road. It is a simple place with a lot of heavy lifting. Most days start early before the sun gets too high. We spend a lot of time moving crates around and checking the stock. The road outside stays busy with tractors and trucks going back and forth toward Dhanaura. Sometimes it gets quite dusty, so we have to wipe down the display pieces often. People from the nearby villages stop by mostly in the afternoons. We sit on plastic chairs out front when things are quiet. There isn't much to the shop, just the stacks of tiles and the records we keep in a big ledger. Usually, someone is making tea in the back or looking for a misplaced invoice. My cousin helps with the loading because those boxes are more than one person can handle. We don’t have any fancy displays or lights. It is just a shop where we work and try to keep things organized. In the winter, the fog on the road makes everything move a bit slower. During the monsoon, we have to watch the roof for leaks. It is just a normal day-to-day business where we know our neighbors and watch the traffic pass by. The landmark is easy to find because everyone knows the Dhanaura road stretch. We have been here for a while now, just doing our thing and keeping the doors open for anyone who needs us.
