The Hans Foundation General Hospital

You’ll find us on Banghat Road in the Pauri Garhwal region, not too far from the Satpuli Market. This version of the Hans Foundation General Hospital serves a lot of the local folks who come in from the surrounding hills. The road outside can get dusty when the buses go by, but it’s the main artery for this area. Our building is sturdy and built to handle the mountain weather. Inside, it smells like floor cleaner and sometimes a bit of rain when the windows are open. We’ve got a set area for everyone who walks in, whether they have a minor injury or need a longer stay. The staff here works hard, often staying late if a lot of people arrive at once from the further villages. We don’t have much in the way of fancy decor, just the essentials and some benches for people to rest on. It’s a straightforward environment. The Satpuli Market being nearby means we can easily get supplies, and it also brings a lot of life to the area. We see a lot of farmers and local families who rely on us. There’s a certain rhythm to the work here that feels very connected to the land. We don’t use a lot of complicated systems; we just talk to people and do what needs to be done. It’s a humble place that does a lot of heavy lifting for the community. Every morning we start early.
