About Sri Guru Gorakh Nath Rice Mill – Food & Beverages in Bijnor
Our mill is located on Railway Road. You can hear the trains passing by quite often and it shakes the ground a little bit. We named it Sri Guru Gorakh Nath Rice Mill and it has been sitting on this road for some time now. The work here is pretty repetitive with the husking and the cleaning. We start before the first train comes through in the morning. The air is always thick with the scent of dried husks and earth. It is a long building and we have the machinery lined up along one side. On the other side we keep the finished bags ready for transport. The light inside isn't great so we use some big bulbs that hum while they are on. We have a couple of dogs that hang around the gates and wait for scraps. It is a lot of lifting and moving things around which makes for a long day. Sometimes the machinery breaks down and we have to spend hours fixing it with greasy hands. We don't have much of a front office just a small corner with a wooden table and a few stools. People coming from the railway station often stop by to ask for directions or just to see what is happening. We are just a group of workers trying to get through the day's quota of milling. It is loud and hot but we just keep at it until the sun goes down.
