Orient Clothing

Our shop is tucked away on Barvan Street in Dhampur. If you know the Bijnore district at all, you know things move a bit slower out here than they do in the big cities. Orient Clothing has been part of this street for a while now. It’s a narrow road, and sometimes the delivery trucks have a hard time squeezing through, which always causes a bit of a stir with the neighbors. We open up early, usually before the sun gets too high. Inside, it smells like new cloth and maybe a bit of old wood. We don’t have fancy air conditioning, just a couple of wall fans that squeak when they turn. It is mostly just us handling the stock and making sure things are labeled right. Sometimes people drop by just to chat because that is how it is in Dhampur. We have a small back room where we keep the extra rolls of fabric. It’s a bit messy, to be honest, but we know where everything is. The floor is concrete and we’ve got some old chairs that have seen better days. It is a humble setup, nothing like what you see in the glossy magazines. We just focus on the task at hand and try to stay out of the midday heat. Barvan Street has its charms, even with the potholes and the noise. We’re just glad to have a steady place to work. We take things as they come and try not to get too stressed about the small stuff.
