We have a lot of books filled with our own handwriting because that’s how we keep track of most things around here. There’s a ceiling fan that wobbles a bit and makes a clicking sound, but it keeps us cool enough during the Bijnor summers. Local people from Nasirpur Banwari and the nearby villages come in quite often. They usually have questions about their small savings or just want to get their passbooks updated. We do our best to help them out, even if the queue gets a little long on Monday mornings. We don’t use much fancy technology in this office. A basic calculator and some good blue pens are usually enough for what we need to get through the day. Sometimes we have tea while we work and talk about what is happening in the town. It is not a high-pressure environment at all. We just take things as they come. The office is easy to spot once you get into the Nasirpur area.
