Jai Hind Brush Factory

Down here in Mohalla Shei Khan, right near the police station in Sherkot, is where we spend our days. The factory isn't huge but we keep it busy from morning until evening. It’s mostly about brushes. We have all kinds of hair and fibers laying around, and the machines make a steady humming sound that you get used to after a while. If you walk past the station and turn into our street, you’ll probably smell the wood and the glue we use for the handles. Making brushes is one of those things people don't think much about until they need one, but for us, it's what we know. My father did this and now we are still at it in the same spot. It gets a bit crowded inside when we have a big order to finish, with boxes stacked up near the door. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit outside for a bit until it comes back on. Sherkot is known for this kind of work, so we fit right in with the neighbors. We aren't trying to be the biggest place in town, just keeping the quality steady so the brushes don't fall apart the first time someone uses them. It's honest work, even if our clothes are always covered in little bits of bristle by the time we go home at the end of the day. It’s just how things have always been here.
