This office is part of the New Bihar Road Project, located over in Madhubani in the Supaul district. Working with Ardhendu Mitra, we are right on the ground here. It’s a temporary-feeling setup, as is common with these road projects, but we’ve made it our own. The walls are thin, and you can hear everything happening outside on the road. We deal with a lot of dust because of the construction nearby, so we are constantly wiping down our desks. It’s a very hands-on environment. We have a lot of people coming in from the project sites with mud on their boots, looking for signatures or checking on materials. There isn't much in the way of decoration, just some technical drawings taped to the walls and a big whiteboard that usually has a list of things we are behind on. The power goes out occasionally, so we have a backup system that kicks in with a loud hum. We eat our lunch quickly and get back to it. It’s a tough environment sometimes, especially when the monsoon rains hit and everything turns to mud, but we have a good group of people who just get on with it. We aren't here for the office perks; we are here to see the road get built and the project through to the end.
