Down here in Bhalki, things move at their own speed. Fernandes Electricals&Cio is located in the Bidar district, specifically at Prashant V Mashettey's place, c/o R Gound. It’s a rural area, so the surroundings are pretty simple. We deal with electrical stuff, so there’s usually wires and tools lying around the place. It’s not the most organized office you’ll ever see, but we know where everything is. The building is part of the Goun community, and it’s a long way from the big cities like Bangalore. We spend our days troubleshooting or planning out the next job. It gets really dusty here in the summer months. Sometimes the power goes out, which is ironic for an electrical business, but we just wait it out or use the lanterns. It’s a small team, basically just a few of us who have known each other for years. We eat our lunch together and talk about whatever is happening in the village. There’s no big corporate culture here. It’s just hard work and trying to make sure the lights stay on for the people around us. The address is a bit long to write out, but locals know how to find us if they need help. We don’t have a website or anything like that, just this physical spot in Karnataka where we show up every morning. It’s a modest way to earn a living, and we’re okay with that.
