Shreeji Saree & Dresses

If you come to the Main Bazar in Kera, Kutch, you’ll find Shreeji Saree & Dresses. We’ve been part of the bazar for quite some time. It’s a traditional market, so everyone knows everyone else. We have sarees and dresses piled up in the shop. Sometimes the stacks get a bit high. We spend a lot of our day unfolding and then refolding things after people look at them. It’s part of the job. Kera is a quiet town compared to the big cities, but the bazar stays active. We get a lot of people from the surrounding villages coming in. We don’t do any big promotions or sales events. People just know we are here if they need something for a wedding or a festival. The shop gets a bit warm in the summer, but we have a few fans going. We don't have a computer system; we just write everything down in a ledger. It works for us. We like the pace of life here. It’s honest work. Most of our customers are people we’ve known for years. We just try to keep a good variety of things in stock. Sometimes we sit outside on a stool when the shop is empty and watch the people go by. It’s a good way to spend the afternoon. We don't change things much around here. Most of our stock is kept in big cupboards along the walls. If you can't see what you want, you just have to ask us.
