We’re located up on the 5th floor of Patel Towers, which is right by the Jaynagar Bus Stop on the Bhuj-Mirzapur Road. If you are coming from Bhuj, it’s a pretty easy landmark to spot. We spend our days here dealing with all the different industry groups across Kutch. It’s a big region and there’s always something going on with one factory or another. Our office is usually full of maps, meeting notes, and coffee cups. We spend a lot of time on the phone or sitting around the big table talking about local industrial issues. It’s not a fancy place, just a workspace where we can keep track of what the different associations are doing. Sometimes the elevator in the building acts up, so we end up taking the stairs, which is quite a climb to the fifth floor. We see people from all sorts of backgrounds—salt works, manufacturing, you name it. They come in with their problems or updates, and we try to keep it all organized in our files. The view from the window shows a bit of the road and the bus stop, so we can see when it’s getting crowded outside. It’s a busy spot, especially during the middle of the week when everyone is trying to get things settled. We just keep our heads down and handle the paperwork as it comes in.
