Village Mart

Village Mart is right here in Old Town, Bhubaneshwar, not too far from the Narayani Club. We opened this place because the neighborhood needed a spot to grab things quickly without going all the way to the big markets. It is a small shop, maybe a bit cramped when we get a big delivery of rice or snacks. We keep the shelves stocked with the usual stuff like lentils, oil, soap, and biscuits. Some neighbors come in every single morning for their milk and bread. It is nice seeing the same faces every day. I usually sit near the door, and we talk about the weather or local news while I ring things up. The shop does not have fancy lights or displays. We just put things where they fit. Sometimes the crates are stacked a bit high, but people know their way around. Being near the Narayani Club means we get some foot traffic during events too. My nephew helps me out on the weekends when it gets busy. We are not trying to be a big supermarket or anything like that. It is just a local store for local people. We have been here for a while now and the floor tiles are getting a bit worn out. That is just how a busy shop looks after a few years. It is a simple business and we like it that way. We just keep things moving and help out the people who live nearby.
