Spice-N-Ice

Working inside the Pantaloon Mall at Sahid Nagar keeps us pretty busy, especially on the weekends. Spice-N-Ice is tucked in there on Janpath. It’s a different vibe than a street shop because of the air conditioning, but the work is mostly the same. We spend a lot of time wiping down the glass displays and making sure the spoons are stocked up. Being in a mall means we see a lot of people who are just tired from walking around. They sit down for a minute, have their ice cream, and move on. The noise from the other shops can be a bit much sometimes, but you get used to it after a week or two. We have to follow the mall hours, so we’re here late every night. My shift starts around noon usually. We handle the deliveries at the back dock and then wheel everything over to the counter. It’s a lot of lifting heavy tubs. The menu doesn't change much, we stick to what people like. Janpath is always crowded, so even when the mall is quiet, there's always someone coming in. We don't have much space behind the counter, so we have to stay organized or we’d be bumping into each other all day. It’s just a regular job for us, keeping things cold and serving customers who want a break from shopping and the heat outside.
