Finding Orissa Creative Art & Craft can be a little tricky if you don't know the area. We are at Plot No. 2132/4323, tucked away behind the Rajarani Bajaj Auto Show Room. It’s near Ravitalkies Square, down Nageswar Temple Lane off Lewis Road. It’s a bit of a maze back here, but once you find us, there’s plenty to see. We have been working with local arts and crafts for a long time. Our space is filled with all sorts of things, from small trinkets to bigger pieces that take weeks to finish. It’s not a polished gallery by any means. There’s dust on the shelves and the floor usually has some scraps of wood or stone on it. We just like creating things that reflect the local culture. A few of us sit here most days, working on new designs or fixing up old ones. We don't use a lot of fancy tools. Mostly just hand work and things we've learned over the years. People stop by after seeing the temple or while they are out near the square. We don’t have a big marketing budget or anything. We just hope people like what we make. Sometimes the rains make the lane a bit muddy, but we stay open anyway. It’s a quiet life, but we get to be creative every day, which is enough for us. There is always something new to look at if you take the time to visit.
