Maruti Spices

Being near the DAV School in Khandagiri means we have a lot of noise during the day, but we've gotten used to it. Maruti Spices is located at Plot No. A/3 in the Housing Board Colony, which is a pretty quiet neighborhood otherwise. We aren't a big corporation with offices and many departments. It’s just a few rooms where we do everything from sorting the raw materials to the final packing. The grinders we use are old but they are reliable as long as we grease them properly. I spend most of my time covered in some kind of spice powder. It’s hard to get the smell out of your skin, even with plenty of soap. We don't really do any formal advertising. Most of our work comes from people who just know us or saw our sign while walking their kids to the school. We have to be very careful during the rainy season because the moisture can ruin a whole batch of spices if we aren't paying attention. It’s a lot of responsibility but we just take it one day at a time. We aren't looking to conquer the world or anything. We just want to make enough to keep the shop running and help out our families. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy from morning until late evening. There is always something that needs cleaning or a machine that needs a little bit of work.
