About Anwesha Tribal Arts & Crafts – Art & Craft in Bhubaneswar
Our place is at N2-175 in I.R.C. Village, Nayapalli. It’s a bit of a quiet area compared to the city center, which we actually like. Anwesha Tribal Arts & Crafts is where we keep all the things we collect and work on. Most of what we have here comes from tribal communities across the region. We have lots of metal work, wood carvings, and woven items sitting around. It’s not laid out like a museum; things are just sort of placed where they fit. We spend our days checking the quality of the items and talking to the people who make them. Sometimes the rain in Nayapalli makes it hard to keep everything dry, so we’re always moving things away from the windows. We don't have a big corporate office or anything like that. It’s just a house that we’ve turned into a space for these crafts. We often have a lot of packing materials lying around because we’re always sending things out. It’s a bit of a clutter, but it’s a good kind of clutter. People who appreciate these kinds of things usually find their way to our door eventually. We don’t have a big sign, just a small one near the gate. It’s just us here, making sure these traditional skills don’t get forgotten in the rush of everything else. It takes a lot of time, but it’s what we do. We try to keep the garden outside somewhat neat too.
