Our shop is right at the 2nd Postal Colony Chhak. It’s a dusty place because of all the sawing and sanding we do. We have some chairs and tables sitting out front most days. It’s not a big showroom with lights and air conditioning. We mostly work with wood and some plywood stuff. People come in asking for cupboards or beds. Sometimes they bring a picture from a magazine, and we try to see if we can make something similar. Wood prices keep going up, which is a bit of a headache for us. We spend a lot of time just measuring things and getting the joints right. We have a couple of guys who have been with us for years. They know their way around a hammer. The noise is constant during the day. We’ve got piles of sawdust everywhere. It’s just a local furniture shop. We don’t do any of that mass-produced stuff you see online. Everything is done by hand here. It takes time, and sometimes we run behind schedule if the wood doesn't arrive on time. We’ve been in this spot long enough that most neighbors know us. We just keep working, making one piece at a time. It’s honest work, even if our hands are always dirty from the polish and glue. Sometimes the varnish takes forever to dry when it’s humid outside. We just have to wait it out. We also do some repairs on old chairs people bring in from their homes.
