We are set up in Balasore, Orissa, over in the Januganj area. You can find us near Hotel Torrento, care of K.C. Das. It’s a local spot that’s easy to find if you know where the hotel is. Working here for Tata Steel Ltd. feels a lot more personal than being in a massive corporate building. Our office is quite modest and fits right into the neighborhood. We don’t have a big lobby or a security guard at a front desk. You just come in and you’re pretty much in the middle of where everything happens. The atmosphere is casual. We wear comfortable clothes and we don’t worry too much about looking like high-level executives. There’s usually a bit of dust because of the roads nearby, but we keep our desks as clean as we can. We handle the local side of things here, which means a lot of talking to people face-to-face. We don’t have a fancy website or a bunch of brochures. If someone needs something, they usually just drop by or give us a call on the landline. It’s a practical way to work. We know the people around Januganj and they know us. The work gets done without any big fuss or complicated procedures. It’s just us, some old desks, a few reliable computers, and a lot of focus on making sure the daily tasks are completed correctly before we head out for the evening. We like the pace here.
