Up here in Kedar Gouri Apartment, things stay pretty steady throughout the week. Being on Lewis Road means there is always a bit of traffic noise outside, but once you’re inside the flat, it’s mostly just the sound of keyboards clicking. We’ve set up our office in Apartment 301. It’s a practical space, mostly filled with filing cabinets and a few computers that have seen better days. We do a lot of our planning here before heading out to various project sites around Bhubaneswar. Sometimes we have meetings around the kitchen table because it’s the biggest flat surface we have for the large drawings. We don’t have a receptionist or a big lobby area. If you knock, one of us will just get up and open the door. It’s a bit cramped when the whole team is in, but it works for what we need. We spend our afternoons tracking shipments and making sure the site managers have what they require. Orissa can get quite humid, so the fans are always spinning at full speed. We’ve been in this neighborhood for a bit and know the local tea stall workers by name. It’s not a corporate skyscraper, just a regular apartment where we handle the infra business. There’s always a list of things to do stuck to the wall with tape. We just get through the work day by day. There is usually a stack of newspapers in the corner for anyone waiting.
