Working out of Cuttack means dealing with a lot of humidity, but we are used to it at the Madhupatna industrial estate. We share the space with Sree Jaganath Packers. Mr. Mohapatra is usually around to see how things are going. It’s a busy environment with a lot of packing materials and stainless steel everywhere. People are always moving crates or loading up lorries. We don’t really have a corporate vibe here. It’s more about the smell of oil and the sound of tape dispensers. Cuttack is an old city, and this industrial part of it has its own character. You see the same faces every day, which is nice. We spend a lot of our time making sure the stainless steel is handled right so it doesn't get scratched up before it reaches whoever bought it. It’s not the kind of job where you wear a suit. Most of us are in old t-shirts and trousers that have seen better days. The canteen nearby has decent tea which helps when the afternoon slump hits. We have a routine that works for us, even if it looks a bit messy to an outsider. Everything has its place, and we know exactly where the tools are. It’s just honest work in a part of Orissa that stays busy from sunrise to sunset. We keep our heads down and focus on the task at hand without overcomplicating things.
