Diamond Engineering

If you find yourself in Barbil on the Main Road, you'll probably pass by the SBI. Diamond Engineering is right there nearby. Being in the Keonjhar district of Orissa, it’s a lot of red dust and heavy machinery because of the mines. We fit right in with all that. Our shop is where we handle the engineering bits that keep things running. It’s not a quiet place. There’s usually the sound of a grinder or someone hammering something in the back. We do repairs and some custom part work when people bring stuff in. It’s a practical setup. We don’t have a fancy reception area or air conditioning that works all the time. Most of the time we’re in greasy clothes and focused on whatever machine is broken. The weather in Orissa can be tough, either too hot or too rainy, but the work doesn’t stop. We’ve been at this location for a while, and the local truck drivers and mine workers know the spot well. It’s just a few of us here, and we’ve learned how to fix things the old-fashioned way when parts are hard to find. We don't spend much on decorations. The walls are mostly covered in calendars and old tools. We just try to get the engineering right so the equipment can get back out to the sites. It’s a simple life, but it keeps us busy.
