ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN CELL

Our office is right on Wallajah Road in Chennai. If you know the area, you know it’s always busy with people and vehicles. We are at number 17. The Architectural Design Cell has been here for a good amount of time now. It’s not one of those shiny new offices you see in the IT parks. It’s more of a traditional workspace where things are a bit cramped and there’s paper everywhere. We spend most of our time dealing with the humidity and trying to get drawings finished on time. The fans are always on full blast. We handle a variety of work, from small shops to bigger building layouts. It’s mostly just us sitting around the big tables, checking measurements and talking about materials. We don’t have a fancy website or a bunch of awards on the wall. We just show up, do the drafting, and talk to the people who need our help. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit there talking until it comes back on. It’s a very Chennai way of working. People walk in off the street to ask questions about building permits or how to fix a leaky roof. We don't mind. We just tell them what we know and get back to the boards. It’s a noisy, busy place but we get the design work done one way or another.
