Hearing Center

This is the Hearing Center over at IVR- 16 Unit- 6. We have been in this spot for a while. It’s a quiet part of the neighborhood, which is good for what we do. Inside, there are a few small rooms and some chairs for people to wait. We spend a lot of time looking at ears and talking about hearing aids. The equipment we use is kept in metal cabinets. Sometimes the door sticks a little, so you have to pull it hard. We aren't a big corporation. It’s just a few of us working here every day. We drink a lot of tea while we work through the files. The windows look out onto the street, and we see the same people walking by every morning. We keep a stack of magazines in the waiting room, though they are mostly old ones. People come in when they realize they can't hear the television as well as they used to. We do our best to help them figure it out. There isn't any fancy music playing in the background. It's just the sound of the street and us talking. We write things down on yellow pads. It’s a straightforward way to spend the day. We don't make a big fuss about anything. We just show up, do the testing, and make sure everyone is taken care of before we close up for the evening. There’s a small clock on the wall that ticks quite loudly when it’s quiet.
