Being out here in the Satlapur Industrial Area at Mandideep means we deal with a lot of dust and truck noise every day. Our place at Plot No. A-1 to A-6 is quite big because we have to store all the Vardhman Yarns Bhopal stock. It’s mostly just big bags and crates of thread stacked up to the ceiling. I usually get here around nine and the first thing I do is check the inventory against the notes I made the day before. The weather gets really dry around here, which is actually okay for the yarn, but it makes the warehouse feel a bit stuffy. We have a small office tucked in the front where the phone rings more than I’d like. Most of our work is just moving boxes and making sure the right colors go to the right people. We don't really have a fancy showroom because we aren't that kind of business. It’s mostly just loading and unloading. Sometimes the workers from the neighboring units come by for tea and we talk about the power cuts or the road work. It’s a bit out of the way for most people, but since we are right in the industrial zone, it works out for the deliveries. The floor is concrete and always has some bits of white lint floating around from the open packs. That’s just part of working with textiles I guess. It’s nothing special, just a lot of hard work and managing the logistics.
