We’ve been here at Shop No11 for a long time now. It’s right near Shahpura Lake, so the breeze is nice sometimes in the evenings when things finally slow down a bit. Mostly it’s just us stocking shelves and making sure the pulses and rice are in the right bins. People from the neighborhood come by after work. Sometimes it gets crowded and we have to scramble to find change, but that is just how it goes in a small shop. The shop isn’t huge but we fit a lot in here. Boxes get piled up near the back door quite often and I trip over them sometimes. Bhopal weather gets really hot in the summer, so the old ceiling fan is always running with a bit of a wobble. We start early in the morning, opening the metal shutters before the sun is too high. Usually, there is some dust to sweep out from the road first. It is a simple place. We don't have fancy displays or anything like that. Just the usual stuff people need for their daily kitchens. Sometimes the milk delivery is late and we just sit on a wooden stool waiting. If you walk past the lake you will see our green sign. It is a bit faded now from the sun and rain. We know most of the people who walk in by their names. They don't even have to ask for what they want. Life is just about keeping the stock full.
