Sharad Traders

You can find us right at the Jain Mandir Road Chowk. We are located very close to the Jain Dharmashala, which is a busy spot in this part of town. Our building is old and sits right on the corner where the traffic is most hectic. Sharad Traders has been here for a long time, and the shop shows its age. We have heavy wooden counters that have been rubbed smooth by years of use. Most of what we do involves trading in various goods, mostly paper supplies and books. The shelves go all the way up to the ceiling, so we have to use a tall wooden ladder to reach the stock at the top. It’s a bit narrow inside, and when we have more than three people, it gets very crowded. The sound of the temple bells from the Jain Mandir is a constant background to our day. We start early in the morning when the street is being swept. By midday, the noise from the chowk is quite loud with all the rickshaws and vendors. My father and I run the place together. We still use physical ledgers to keep track of our sales because that’s what we’re used to. It’s a simple way of doing things. The shop always smells a bit like old paper and the incense they burn at the temple. We don't have much room for anything fancy, so we just stick to the basics of our daily trade.
