Sengar Masala is a small shop at 159/1, right near Kolar Road. We are close to the Fn Phase 1 Gate, which is how most people find us. As soon as you get close, you can smell the spices in the air. We spend our days grinding chilies, turmeric, and all sorts of other spices. It’s a dusty job, and sometimes the air gets so sharp from the pepper that we can't stop sneezing. We have big bags of raw spices sitting on the floor waiting to be processed. We don't use any fancy packaging or big machines; it’s mostly just the traditional way of doing things. People bring their own containers sometimes, or we wrap things up in simple bags. The shop is small and the walls are stained with the colors of the spices we work with. It isn't a supermarket experience at all. You come in, tell us what you need, and we weigh it out right there. The noise of the grinders is constant, so we have to talk loudly to hear each other. We are just local people making something that everyone needs for their kitchen. It’s hard work and our hands are always stained yellow or red by the end of the day, but it’s what we do. We just focus on keeping the grinders moving and serving the families who walk through the gate.
