Santhaji Traders

You can find us at Shop-13 in the Galla Mandi over in Berasia. Being at Santhaji Traders means being part of the market life every single day. The Mandi is a loud, crowded place, especially in the mornings when the trucks are arriving and everyone is trying to move their goods at once. Our shop is just one small part of that big puzzle. We deal with all sorts of things, and the inventory is always changing depending on what’s coming in and what’s going out. The floor is usually covered in dust from the sacks, and there is a lot of heavy lifting involved. We don't have a quiet office to retreat to; we’re right there on the front line with the customers and the porters. We keep our records in big notebooks and try to stay on top of the prices as they shift. It’s a very hands-on kind of life. There’s no air conditioning, just the breeze that comes through the open front of the shop. We know the other traders nearby, and we’ve all been through the same busy seasons together. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s steady and it keeps us busy from dawn until the market starts to wind down in the evening. If you come by Shop-13, you’ll probably find us busy with a scale or talking to a driver about a delivery.
