Rai Kirana

Rai Kirana is located over in the Arera Hills area of Bhopal, specifically in Om Nagar near the Birla Mandir. It’s a nice part of the city, though the hills make for some steep walking if you’re not used to it. We set up this kirana shop to serve the people living in the residential blocks around here. Most of our work involves weighing out grains, pulses, and sugar for the local households. We have those big sacks sitting on the floor and the smell of spices is always in the air. It’s a small operation, mostly run by me and my wife. We don't have a big fancy sign, just a simple one that people recognize. Since we are near the temple, we sometimes get visitors who are looking for small things like incense or matches. The pace of life here is a bit slower than the main market areas, which we quite enjoy. We know which family prefers which brand of tea and who likes their lentils a certain way. Our customers are more like neighbors, and we often spend a few minutes just talking about the weather or local events. It is a basic shop with no frills, but we keep everything organized enough so that people don't have to wait long. We just want to keep things running smoothly for everyone in Om Nagar. We are usually here from dawn until after dark.
