Pooja Kirana Shop

Our shop is tucked away at 69 A near Jyoti Chouraha. If you know the M P Nagar area in Bhopal, you know it is a place that never really stays quiet, especially being so close to the Jyoti Cineplex. We opened Pooja Kirana Shop because we wanted to have a spot where locals could grab their groceries without too much fuss. It is a standard kirana setup, filled with sacks of grains and rows of bottled oils and spices. Dealing with the crowd after a movie lets out can be a bit much sometimes, but it keeps the day interesting and the time passes fast. The shop is not shiny or anything, it is just a practical space for shopping. I usually have a helper with me to move the heavy stuff around. We try to keep the staples in stock like flour, sugar, and the kind of things people realize they are out of right when they start cooking. Sometimes the fans do not work great and it gets a bit stuffy, but that is Bhopal for you in the summer months. We have seen the area change a lot over the years, with more traffic and new buildings popping up everywhere. But the shop stays mostly the same. Just a counter, some old scales, and a lot of wooden shelves. It is hard work standing all day and handling the accounts in a notebook, but it is a decent living. We are right there in the middle of the action at Jyoti Chouraha.
