Planet 9 Designs

Our office is in the Ushapreet Complex, which is right on Chappan Bhog Lane in Bhopal’s New Market. If you know the area, you know it’s famous for all the food stalls, so it smells like street food around here most afternoons. We are directly opposite the Apex Bank, which is a big landmark for us. Working in New Market means there is never a quiet moment, but we’ve gotten used to the constant honking and the crowds outside. Inside Planet 9 Designs, things are a bit more organized, though we do have samples of wood and fabric scattered around most of the time. We do a lot of design work here, sitting at the big table in the middle of the room. It’s where we sketch out ideas and look at color palettes for different rooms. The lighting in the complex isn't the best, so we have a few extra lamps on our desks to see the fine details. Clients come in and we show them what we’ve been working on, usually over a cup of tea from the stall downstairs. We don't really do the whole corporate thing; it’s more about just sitting down and figuring out how to make a space look decent. Some days we spend hours just arguing over where a wall should go or what kind of lighting would work best in a cramped kitchen. It’s a lot of practical thinking and trying to stay ahead of the schedule.
