Kumkum General Store

This shop, Kumkum General Store, sits right behind the Sports Club in Bheem Nagar. It’s an interesting spot because Arera Hills is right there, but we are more part of the Bheem Nagar side. Most of our neighbors live in the nearby slums, so we keep things that people actually use every day. We don't have anything expensive or unnecessary here. It’s mostly just rice, oil, some snacks for the kids, and basic household items. The sports club gets noisy sometimes, but we are used to it by now. The street can be a bit dusty, especially when there’s a lot of traffic nearby. Bhopal gets really hot in the summer, and the shop can feel small, but we leave the door open to get some air. We’ve been at this address for a good amount of time. People know they can just walk over if they run out of salt or need a new light bulb. I usually sit here most of the day, talking to whoever comes in. It’s not a corporate business or anything like that. It’s just a local store for local people. Sometimes we run out of things and have to wait for the delivery truck, but we try to keep the basics on the shelf. It’s a small life, but Bheem Nagar is home to us and we like being part of the neighborhood.
