Kashmir General Stores

Kashmir General Stores is our little shop over in Ravi Shankar Nagar, Bhopal. It’s a nice residential area, so we get a lot of families and kids coming in for treats. We aren't actually from Kashmir; that's just the name we chose for the shop a long time ago when we started. We keep all the basic household things like soap, flour, lentils, and snacks. The shop is nestled in among the houses, making it convenient for people who don't want to drive to the big supermarkets in the center. We open up early because that’s when people realize they ran out of milk or sugar for their tea. Bhopal is a pretty city, and Ravi Shankar Nagar is a decent place to be. We have a few shelves that we keep stocked as best as we can. Sometimes the deliveries are late because of the traffic, and we have to explain that to the neighbors. It’s just us running the place, so if we need to run an errand, we might pull the shutter down for half an hour. People around here understand how it is. We try to keep the place clean, though the dust from the street always finds its way in. It’s a simple life behind the counter. We listen to the radio and wait for the next person to walk through the door. There’s no big goal other than keeping the shop going and helping out the local folks with their daily shopping needs.
