Jain Door House

We are over here at Pul Patra, right near the Hanuman Mandir on Galla Mandi Road. It gets pretty loud during the day because of all the trucks heading to the market, but we’ve gotten used to it over the years. The shop is full of doors and wooden frames stacked up against the walls. Usually, you’ll see some sawdust on the floor because there is always something being moved or adjusted. It’s a busy spot. We open the shutters early in the morning, right around when the temple bells start ringing. People stop by asking for different sizes or just to see what kind of wood we have in stock today. Sometimes the delivery rickshaws get stuck in the narrow lane, so we have to help them navigate. It’s not a fancy showroom with air conditioning or anything like that. It’s just a practical place where we keep our inventory. My hands are usually a bit dusty by the end of the day from handling the materials. We see a lot of the same faces from the neighborhood. Everyone knows where Pul Patra is, so it’s easy to find us. We just focus on getting the orders ready and making sure the doors are solid. There’s a tea stall just a few steps away that keeps us going during the long afternoons when the sun is hitting the road hard. It’s just how things go here every day.
