Iqbal Hosiery General Stores

Kotwali Road in Bhopal is always moving and full of noise, and Iqbal Hosiery General Stores is right in the middle of all that chaos. This is an older part of town and the streets are quite narrow, so things can get a bit tight when the crowds are out. We sell a lot of hosiery items like socks, vests, and basic undergarments, along with the usual general store things like toothpaste, matches, and hair oil. Most of the people who come into the shop are locals who have been living around the 462001 area for many years. They usually know exactly where everything is on the shelves without even asking. Sometimes, when the shop is quiet in the middle of the day, we sit on the wooden stools out front just watching the bikes and rickshaws go by. It’s not a fancy place at all and the walls could probably use a new coat of paint if we ever found the time. The ceiling fan makes a constant clicking sound when it’s turned up high to beat the Bhopal heat. It is a lot of work keeping track of all the different sizes and colors of the hosiery stuff we keep in stock. Sometimes a box gets misplaced behind the counter and we have to hunt for it while the customer waits. We just do things the simple way here and don’t worry too much about being polished or modern. It’s just how the shop has always been.
