Gac Global Environment Council

Gac Global Environment Council is based out of Kanha Residency, which is right near St. Basil School in Maretha. We aren't a big organization with a lot of money or a huge staff. It’s just a few of us who care about environmental issues and wanted to do something local. Our office at 149 is a bit small, especially when we have all our files out on the tables, but it works for what we need. We spend most of our time looking at local environmental data and trying to understand how things are changing around here. It’s not the kind of work that gets a lot of attention, and that’s fine with us. We don't have a big budget for advertising or anything like that. We just focus on the projects we have in front of us. Most days involve a lot of reading and writing reports that hopefully someone finds useful. We’ve lived in this area for quite some time, so we’ve seen how the land and the water have been affected by all the new buildings. It’s slow work and sometimes it feels like we are just scratching the surface, but we keep showing up. We don't have a fancy board of directors or anything polished. It’s just a group of regular people trying to be useful in our own small way from this little office.
