You can find Dr. Avadhesh Narayan Khare’s clinic right in the middle of Jawahar Chowk here in Bhopal. It is a busy part of town, so there is always something going on outside the door. The clinic has been a part of this neighborhood for a long time. People around here know the building well. It is not one of those new, glass-fronted hospitals you see popping up everywhere. It is a practical space where people come when they are feeling under the weather or need a regular checkup. We have some benches for people to sit on while they wait. The walls are painted a simple off-white color and we have a fan that hums a bit too loudly when it is on the highest setting. Dr. Khare sees a lot of regular patients who have been coming since they were kids, and now they bring their own children. It is a lot of work keeping everything organized, especially when the chowk gets crowded on market days. We do our best to see everyone who walks through the door, even if the day gets long. There is a lot of tea drinking and talking between appointments. We don't have a big marketing team or anything like that. Word just spreads from one neighbor to another.
