Ayush Kirana.Hb

We are over at Sagar Royals on Hoshangabad Road in Bhopal. The shop is called Ayush Kirana.Hb. It’s part of the Surendra Land Mark area, which is a big mix of residential buildings and other small businesses. Being on Hoshangabad Road means there is a lot of dust from the traffic, so I’m constantly wiping down the counter and the jars. We sell the basic kirana items that everyone needs. It’s a small space, so we have to be careful about what we stock. I usually keep the most popular lentils and oils right at the front where I can reach them easily. The floor is tiled, but a few of the tiles are loose and make a clicking sound when you walk over them. We don't have any staff, it’s just us family members taking turns behind the counter. In the mornings, I spend a lot of time checking the expiry dates on the milk and bread. We don't have fancy marketing or anything like that. People just know we are here because they live in the buildings nearby. The shop can get quite hot in the summer because the sun hits the front window directly for a few hours in the afternoon. We just pull down the shade and keep going. It’s a practical little shop for a practical neighborhood. We’re just here to do a job and help the local families get their shopping done.
