We are right near the Jingle Bells School, so we hear the kids playing during their breaks while we are sorting through bins of bolts and gears. It is a bit of a climb up the hill, but we like the spot. Our shelves are pretty crowded with all sorts of spares for machinery and vehicles. We have things tucked away in corners that have been there for years, just in case someone comes in looking for a specific part for an old tractor or a pump. The shop is a bit dim inside, but we know where everything is located without having to look at a computer most times. It gets busy in the afternoons. Sometimes local mechanics stop by just to chat and have a smoke while they wait for a part to be found. We aren't trying to be the biggest shop in the city, just a reliable place here in Idgah Hills. My hands are usually stained with iron dust or some kind of lubricant. It's a simple life, really. We open the shutters in the morning, sweep the front, and wait to see who needs help with their equipment that day. The school bell is our clock. When the kids go home, we start thinking about closing up the shop and heading back to our own families. It is a quiet routine that we have grown to appreciate over the years.
