N. K. Cotton

The shop is over here in Amraiwadi, right on the 80 Feet Road by Ashoka Garden. If you know the Ramzan Hotel, we are basically just around there. It gets pretty busy on the N. H. No. 8, with all the trucks and dust outside, but inside we just focus on the cotton. We’ve been at this for a while now. Some days it’s just moving stacks of material around and checking the cotton for any issues. It’s not fancy or anything. There’s a ceiling fan that makes a bit of noise, but it keeps us cool enough when the sun is hitting the road hard. People come in, ask for what they need, and we see what we can do. Usually, someone is out grabbing tea or talking to the neighbors. The space isn't huge but it fits everything we need for the day. Sometimes the traffic makes it hard for people to park, so we tell them to just pull up wherever they can near the hotel. We keep the doors open mostly to get some air. It’s a lot of manual work, lifting and sorting. Not much to look at, just a regular workplace where we deal with the fabric and the orders that come through. We try to get things done by the evening before the main road gets too packed with people going home. That’s pretty much how it goes every day here at the shop. We just lock up and start again tomorrow.
