City Hospital

If you’re driving along the bypass road, you’ll find City Hospital sitting right near the Kali Temple. It’s a landmark everyone in the area knows, so we usually just tell people to look for the temple gates and then they find us easily enough. The bypass stays pretty loud with all the trucks and cars zooming by at all hours. We’ve gotten used to the sound of traffic, but sometimes it’s a bit much when you’re trying to have a quiet conversation. The building itself is plain, nothing too special to look at from the outside, but it serves its purpose. Inside, it’s mostly just white walls and tile floors that we spend a lot of time mopping because of the dust coming off the road. Being near the temple means there’s a lot of activity on festival days, and the whole street gets crowded with people and stalls. We usually have to come in a bit earlier those days just to make sure we can get to the entrance. It’s a busy spot, and there isn’t much shade around here, so the sun really hits the front of the building in the afternoon. Most of us eat our lunch in the small back room away from the noise. It isn't a quiet life here on the bypass, but it’s where we are and we’ve made a home out of it for the hospital over the years.
