Ajay Leela Grih Udyog

Our business, Ajay Leela Grih Udyog, is situated right in the middle of Babu Bazar in Arrah, Bihar. It is a very busy market area, and there is always a lot of noise and movement outside our doors. We focus on making traditional home-style food products like papads, some basic spices, and seasonal snacks that people in Bihar have been eating for generations. It is a small operation, mostly run by family members and a few women from the neighborhood who come in to help with the preparation and packaging. The smell of ground turmeric and red chilies is always hanging in the air here, which sometimes makes us sneeze, but you get used to it after a while. We don't have big machines; most of the work is done by hand because that is how we have always done it at home. Babu Bazar is a place where everyone knows everyone, so we get a lot of walk-in customers who are just doing their daily shopping. Sometimes we struggle to keep up with the demand during festival seasons when everyone wants special snacks for their guests. The space is a bit cramped with all the sacks of raw materials and the finished packets waiting to be sold, but we manage to make it work. We started this small venture to keep busy and earn a living, and it has grown slowly over the years just by word of mouth. It is not a big factory, just a local home industry trying to make good things.
