We deal with organic products and mostly that means a lot of lifting and sorting. The shop has a particular smell, like dried herbs and grains, which I’ve gotten used to over the years. We aren't a big corporation. It’s just a few of us here making sure the bags are sealed and the shelves are full. Sometimes the deliveries are late and we have to wait around, which can be frustrating. Vikas Nagar is a nice neighborhood and we know the people who live nearby. They stop in to chat even if they aren't buying anything. We have some old wooden counters and a scale that’s seen better days but still works fine. We don't spend money on fancy decorations or advertising. We just put the items out and let people see them for themselves. It gets hot in the afternoons, so we usually have the fan on high. We try to keep things simple because that’s easier for everyone. Most days are pretty much the same. We open up, check the stock, talk to customers, and then close the shutters when the sun goes down. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy.
