Lab Chemist

Out here in Villege Chakia, things move at a different pace than the big cities. I work as a Lab Chemist, and my setup is near the Shankerpatkhauli post office in the Kushinagar district. It’s a quiet life, mostly dealing with soil samples or water testing for the local farmers around here. People come by on their cycles with jars of dirt, and I spend my afternoon analyzing what's in them. It’s important work for the village, even if the building isn't much to look at. It's just a small room with some chemicals and old scales. In Uttar Pradesh, the summers get incredibly hot, so I try to get most of the heavy work done before noon. My family has been in this area for generations, so I know almost everyone who walks through the door. We usually sit and talk for a bit before I get to work. I don't have any assistants or fancy computer systems. It’s just me and my notes. Sometimes I have to wait a week for supplies to arrive from the bigger towns because we are quite far out. But the people here are patient. They know I’ll get the job done when I can. The air is dusty, and the floor is always a bit dirty from the boots coming in, but it feels right to be working in my own village. It's a simple life and the work is steady enough for me to stay and help the local folks.
