Being near the hospital means we stay quite busy with people coming and going at all hours. We have a mix of regular groceries like dal and rice, but also stuff like toothpaste, soap, and biscuits. The shop is often a bit messy because we have things stacked up in corners whenever a new shipment arrives. Gwalior gets incredibly hot during the summer months, so we spend a lot of time trying to keep the drinks cool and keeping the dust off the products. I’ve been running this place for a while and it’s a lot of long hours, usually from seven in the morning until late at night. There isn't much time for breaks, so I usually eat my lunch right here at the counter between customers. Sometimes I make mistakes with the change or forget to write down a credit, but that’s just part of the job when you're doing everything yourself. People in Dabra mostly know us by name and they stop by to catch up on the local news while they wait for me to pack their items. It’s a simple arrangement and we don't have any big plans to change things. We just try to keep the basics in stock so no one has to go too far to find what they need for their kitchen.
