The shop is located in Subhashganj, right on the Station Road in Dabra. Being so close to the station means there is always a lot of noise from the trains and the people rushing to catch them. Gwalior can get very dusty, and our shop at M.D. Kirana definitely feels it. We spend a lot of time just wiping down the glass jars where we keep the loose spices and sugar. It is a family thing, really. We all take turns sitting at the counter. The sacks of grain are heavy, and moving them around every time a new shipment comes in is the hardest part of the day. We have some regulars who have been coming here since they were children, and now they bring their own kids. It is interesting to see how the town has changed around us while the shop stays pretty much the same. The wooden counter is scratched up from years of sliding heavy items across it. We don't have any computers or fancy billing systems, just a thick notebook and a pen that we keep tied to a string so it doesn't get lost. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to use candles or a small torch to see what we are doing. It is just a regular life in a small town store, keeping things moving day by day for the people in Dabra.
