At Ran Shree Contractors, our place is on Chandupura Road, right by the school. You can hear the kids playing during recess if the windows are open. It’s a simple setup we’ve got here in Chandupura. We spent a lot of time getting this office into shape when we first moved in. It’s mostly just a bunch of desks and some filing cabinets that have seen better days. Being near the school means traffic can be a headache in the afternoons, but we’ve learned to plan our errands around those times. It is a local operation through and through. We don’t have a front desk person sitting there all day. Usually, someone just yells from the back if they hear the door creak. Most of our day is spent coordinating stuff on the phone or checking lists. We aren't trying to be anything we aren't. We just work here. Sometimes the neighbors come by to chat, which slows things down, but it's part of being in this spot. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we never seem to find the time for it. We keep busy with the actual work instead of worrying about how the office looks to outsiders. It’s a practical space for practical people. We’ve been on this road for a long time and know most of the faces passing by. The school bell usually tells us when it’s time to think about wrapping up for the day and heading home to see our families.
