Country Inn Bhimtal

Down in Mehragaon, which is part of the Nainital district, you will find Country Inn Bhimtal. It is tucked away in the hills where the trees are thick and the air feels a lot cooler than down in the plains. The lake isn't far, but we are far enough away that the main tourist noise doesn't really bother us much. It’s a lot of green everywhere you look. The building has several levels because of the way the land slopes, so there is a fair bit of walking up and down stairs. We have a lot of plants around the property that need watering all the time. The people who stay here are usually looking for a break from the city heat. We see a lot of monkeys around the area, so we have to tell people to keep their windows shut. It isn't a big, corporate-style place where everything is perfect, but it works for what it is. The rooms have what you need and the views are mostly of the valley and the trees. In the evenings, it gets dark pretty quick and you can hear the crickets. The staff knows the local spots for tea and the best trails for a short walk. We spend our time fixing little things and making sure the kitchen is stocked for breakfast. It’s a quiet life up here in the mountains and we just do our jobs.
